Description
Aspects of sieve methods from a slightly personal point of view. Part III of a series of six lectures, spread across the two week period, given by Professor Christopher Hooley, Visiting Professor in Mathematics, University of Bristol.
Professor Hooley explains that the prerequisites are reasonably modest, and people can see an unedited version of previous lecture notes to gain general information on the types of sieves involved (please refer to 'further information'). There is no need to study these notes in detail before the lectures begin. The first lecture does not depend on what went before as in the first lecture, Professor Hooley will explain briefly the parts of the previous lectures that will be needed for an understanding of the next five lectures to follow.
