Description
This is the third of the PDE Winter Schools which are held annually in the South West Region. The programme includes three invited lectures:
- Yann Brenier (Universite de Nice) on "How the least action principle for Hamiltonian PDEs can be modified to handle dissipative phenomena"
- Denis Serre (Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon) on "A characteristic boundary-value problem"
- Aldo Pratelli (Universita di Pavia) on "On the quantative versions of isoperimetric and spectral inequalities"
and short contributed talks from PhD students and junior researchers.
The School is held annually in the South West Region of the UK. The first School was organised by the Oxford Centre for Nonlinear PDE in Oxford in December 2008, the second by the Wales Institute of Mathematical and Computational Sciences in January 2010.
