Description
The meeting is aimed at students across the UK considering applying for Ph.D. studies in Mathematics for entry in 2012. The conference has the goal to introduce the many and varied opportunities for research in pure and applied mathematics that exist in universities in the UK. Speakers will share their passion about mathematical research by describing the type of questions they are working on, and will discuss where their research topic is being actively studied in the UK. Moreover, information about the Doctoral Training Centers in Mathematical Sciences and funding opportunities will be available. The event will be in Bristol on 16-17 December 2011 and will be sponsored by the London Mathematical Society. The talks will be on the afternoon of Friday 16 December and the morning of Saturday 17 December . The conference dinner on Friday evening will provide the opportunity to interact wtih the speakers.

Funding is available to cover the costs for around 50 participants for accommodation for one night and to help cover the cost of travelling to Bristol. All applicants are automatically considered for funding. Information on how to apply can be found on the event webpage.
