ABSTRACT
I will describe a combinatorial framework for the study of random polymers, based on a
generalisation of the theory of Young tableaux and its relation to GL(n)-Whittaker functions.
I will also explain the relation to some classical random matrix ensembles, which appear
in this context in the zero-temperature limit. Based on joint work with Timo Seppalainen
and Nikos Zygouras.
