Special seminar - Addition versus Multiplication
Mon 04 March 2013, 16:00
Jeff Lagarias
Michigan
Organisers: Tim Dokchitser, Daniel Loughran
ABSTRACT
A fundamental theme in mathematics
is the interaction of addition and multiplication.
We consider some examples of this interaction
in logic and complexity theory, measure theory
and ergodic theory, and in number theory
(Diophantine equations).
This will be a colloquium style talk. There will be a wine reception afterwards at 5pm on the 4th floor of Howard House.
