Postgraduate opportunities in pure mathematics

You will join a pure maths group that has been ranked joint fifth in the UK by the The Times Higher Education Supplement, based on the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

We have active research groups in: algebra (representation theory of groups and algebras, homological algebra, algebraic topology), analysis (partial differential equations and spectral theory), ergodic theory and dynamical systems (dimension theory in dynamical systems, dynamics of group actions, Teichmüller dynamics), logic (set theory and the foundations of mathematics) and number theory (algorithmic number theory, analytic number theory and Diophantine geometry). All these groups are keen to take on postgraduate students and run active seminars. To see potential PhD projects within these groups, either look at the pure postgraduate handbook or follow the link below to sample research topics.

Bristol University has joined up with Oxford, Warwick, Imperial College and Bath to become a Taught Course Centre. The aim is to provide a comprehensive range of introductory post-graduate courses, including many across pure mathematics.
