The Manin conjecture in dimension 2

How frequently do integer solutions to the equation a^3+b^3=c^3+d^3 occur? This project is concerned with making progress on a conjecture of Manin, which gives very precise answers to this sort of question for a broad range of algebraic surfaces. The techniques involved combine analytic number theory with geometry.
