Visiting the School

Before making an application prospective applicants are encouraged to attend one of the University’s Open Days, which are held in June and September. The School of Mathematics offers a full programme of events, including talks from academic staff and opportunities to speak with admissions tutors and current undergraduates.

Once you have received an offer, you will be invited to attend one of the School’s UCAS Days, which are held on Wednesdays during February and March. The UCAS Day includes presentations about our undergraduate programmes and some of our current research, a short tutorial with a member of academic staff, and tours of the University precinct and Halls of Residence. Visiting applicants are invited to lunch with a group of current undergraduates, who serve as guides throughout the day. Accompanying parents are invited to attend a separate presentation about the School and the University. A typical programme of the day contains more details.

We regret that, unless there are special circumstances (students with a disability, or travelling from abroad), we cannot arrange individual visits before an offer is made. If you should be visiting the University independently and call in at the School, we will be happy to provide you with information for a self-guided tour of the precinct.
